Faceting Machine Build
Incorporating both the slip ring and angle encoder into the faceting head will be a bit tricky. I'm planning on using 1/8 microstepping and am concerned if I'll have enough holding torque to cut facets with.

The circuit board also controls the speed of the motor. This controller board was made by a company in Florida who we haven't been able to find now.

Robilt lapidary lap with glenjoy meteor faceting head
It's a Robilt lap with a Glenjoy meteor faceting head. It has a reservoir holder and there is a plastic pot that goes with it. There is a rock clamp for polishing flats. There's a set of brass dops and a dop transfer jig, diamond paste in syringes. I'll go through the box and list all the laps and other bits that are with it.

Faceting confusion a couple of threads on the site seem to be heading in this direction. All our faceting is basically using meet points. ... Hi John, In answer to yu question No, the critical angle gives the lowest angle you can use on the pavilion so that light from the table will be reflected back. Less than the critical and light passes through to be lost and a "fish eye" effect happens.
